SEPTEMBER 6, 1979: MILESTONE: You Gotta Serve Somebody says Mr. Dylan (released on this date) Bob Dylan was never one to be pinned down as he often shocked his audience by changes in style and material, but no move was more controversial than after a period of alienation and confusion, he emerged as very hard core born again Christian much to the surprise of Jewish Producer Jerry Wexler and Dire Straits guitarist who were booked to record his next album. Some songs were more allegorical but to the shock of those who appreciated his mind-expanding poetry, some were hard core evangelism. His Jesus phase would only last a couple years. (Thankfully) Regardless, he single from his first of three Jesus albums, SLOW TRAIN COMING, featured the single, You Gotta Serve Somedbody, on this date, a song which surely neednt be taken as an expression of fundamental Christianity as its message rings true regardless. vimeo/87876758
