SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF VANDALISM (MISCHIEF) - ESPANOLA POLICE SEEKING ASSISTANCE: During the weekend of September 19 to the 21, 2014, the Espanola Police Service received four complaints of damage being done to private property, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible. On September 19 at 6:10 am, a resident of a home on Hayward Street, Espanola, reported that an unknown person(s) threw a rock through a front picture window at her home, causing approximately $500.00 damage. On September 20, 2014 at 8:50 am, a resident of a home on Annette Street, Espanola, reported that during the night, unknown person(s) had damaged his truck by throwing red paint on the hood, grill and front bumper, causing approximately $1000.00 in damage. The person(s) responsible left behind the plastic one gallon ice cream container that was used to carry the paint. On September 20, 2014 at 9:20 pm, a resident of a home on Avery Street reported hearing several loud bangs outside of his home, and upon investigating the origin of the noise, he noticed that some unknown person(s) had caused approximately $100.00 damage to his fence. Later at 10:29 pm, the same homeowner called police again, because the person(s) had returned, and damaged another section of the fence, resulting in an additional $250.00 in damage. On September 20, 2014 at 11:20 am, a resident of a home on Haig Street, Espanola, reported that 5 youths wearing hoodies had kicked in her neighbour’s fence. Police received four additional calls about the group of youths from resident’s on Elizabeth Street, Wood Street, Kathleen Street, and St. Joseph Street about the same group of youth causing noise, and tearing out election signs and trying to pull Municipal Stop Signs out of the ground. Despite an extensive search of the area by police, the group of vandals could not be located. At this time, there are no suspects in these matters, and police are asking anyone with information about the person(s) responsible, to call the Espanola Police Service at (705) 869-3251 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-461-4899.
