SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for damaging winds and large hail for the Barkly, Simpson and Tanami forecast districts Issued at 7:28 pm CST on Sunday 7 December 2014. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OBSERVED OVER THE NORTHWESTERN SIMPSON AND TANAMI DISTRICTS. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES in parts of the Simpson, Tanami and south west Barkly forecast districts. Locations that may be affected include Barrow Creek, Arltunga, Ross River, Territory Grape, Ti Tree, Rabbit Flat and Yuendumu. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Lasseter forecast district has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further alerts will be issued if necessary. The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: Secure loose outside objects. Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. Avoid remaining in the open when storms threaten. Move cars under cover. Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current. For emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones, contact the NTES on 132 500.
