*****SHADOWS FROM THE PAST***** EPISODE 36 Best friends tends to desert us when we are in one trouble or the other, they give excuses like they wish they could be of help in one way or the other but they are unable to because they are not financially buoyant if the problem is about finance, or they are incapable of helping if the problem is spiritual or physical. Such was the case when Tonye and Tonia left Tina to single- handedly face her problems squarely. Even though they had what it takes to help her financially, they chose not to help her despite the number of years they had spent together in wealth, in happiness, in joy, in struggles, in hunger and in love. Tina was a good spirited person who was quick to forgive them as soon as she got the financial help from a certain Madam Cole and when her friends came calling at her door now that she is getting married to the youngest billionaire in the country, she recieved them with arms opened. Those friends who deserted her are now back with her planning how their friend’s wedding will look like. “Babes, who is this planner sef?” Tonia asked. “”My sister-in-law, you know her nau. Atinuke introduced me to one of their distant cousins who has an event planning company.” Tina replied. “So, how sure are you that the wedding will be a success?” Tonia asked. “Eighty percent.” tina replied. “If you say so.” “Tonye, what’s the matter? You’ve been quiet since you guys came in here.” Tina asked. “Babes, you are not seeing what am seeing.” Tonye replied. “Oya o seer what are you seeing?” Tonia asked. “Have you told Raymond about your past?” Tonye asked. “Is it neccessary?” Tina asked. “No its not but you need to tell him. What do you think will happen if he hears from a third party. He’ll be heartbroken right? Then it’ll be all over the papers. My dear think.” Tonye explained. “Its not like I don’t want to tell him but am scared of what his reaction will be.” Tina replied. “You are scared of the man who wants to marry you. Are you two even in love at all?” Tonye asked. “Okay I’ll try and tell him when he comes back today. So how about where we said we are going?” Tina replied expertly changing the topic. She feel uncomfortable when a discussion is about her. “Are you set?” Tonia asked. “Lemme pick ma car key.” Tina replied. “Please be fast.” Tonia, the outgoing type said. Tina walked in and re-emerged after two minutes with her purse and car key. “Wait o! Are you sure you’ve mastered the act of driving?” Tonia asked. “What if I haven’t?” Tina asked. “Am still young ni o.” Tonia replied. “And you can’t afford your boyfriend having another girlfriend at this crucial stage.” Tina mocked. “He is not my boyfriend but fiancee.” Tonia replied. “I can’t stop laughing.” Tonye whispered. “What’ funny? At least you are still single. Ugly girl.” Tonia fired at Tonye. “Tonye, don’t you think its high time you started dating?” Tina asked. “Do you have a placard?” Tonye asked. “Placard? For what?….. Oh oh oh!” Tina bursted into laughter realising what her friend meant by placard. It was the believe of the girls that if a guy is single and he is in search of a girl to date, instead of blowing his chances with bad grammers, he shoul look for a placard and get a dictionary, construct his sentence and hang it on his neck. With this the three friends all marched out of the house with Tina locking the front door. They hopped into Tina’s white chrysler 300 and off they went to the mall. — to be continued– GOOD MORNING FANS
