SHOE EXPECTATIONS: READER: Dear CR, how come your latest - TopicsExpress

SHOE EXPECTATIONS: READER: Dear CR, how come your latest season shoes do not come in half sizes? Regards, Ms frustrated Size 35.5. CR RESPONSE: Some of our styles do come in half sizes, but not all of them. I will pass your feedback onto our team at HQ to assist with further planning and consideration for our up and coming seasons. SIA RESPONSE: Lets take a retailer on the high street who sells clothes as a primary revenue stream and homewares/accessories as a secondary revenue stream. Adding half sizes to its shoe offerings, doubles alot of the costs associated with selling shoes. It will need double the stock lines in the system, double the storage room (both HQ & bricks), double the production runs, etc. It is much cheaper for a shoe retailer to add half sizes than a store like CR. Thats b/c the marginal cost of adding extra sizes is less than it is for the CRs of this world. So at CR, the decision is not taken lightly & I doubt any consideration would be given to this request because it doesnt make business sense. Sad, but true. This also goes back to the BIGGER PICTURE. The shoes are off the rack. Of course they wont fit perfectly. So just like clothes, if you desperately must have them, you go up a size & use innersoles (the shoe equivalent of tailoring). Some of you (alot of you) who like to live dangerously, go down a size & like to stretch them out, but in my experience, too small shoes are the ones I clear out of womens wardrobes. Too big shoes have happier lives in wardrobes than too small shoes. Ultimately, what I so find hard to believe though is that anyone is is desperate enough to need shoes from Country Road. Yes, they have some nice lines, but there are a gazillion other shoe options at similar prices which will fit the bill. This is the equivalent of going to CR if you wanted some womens business suits or going to CR for some functional swimming costumes. Or going to CR for an evening. Once in a blue moon, you may find it. The rest of the time, you are just getting frustrated. This reader needs to do some research & find more options. Are you frustrated with an particular retailer? Hows the search for alternatives going?
