*** SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN RAINFALL EXPECTED *** An Area of Low Pressure near Panama is expected to move northward over the next 48 hours and produce unstable weather conditions across Jamaica and its coastal waters. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase late on Saturday as the Low Pressure positions southwest of Jamaica. These showers could be prolonged and heavy at times, which increases the chance of flooding over flood-prone and low-lying areas. A gradual improvement in the weather is expected by Tuesday as the system moves away from Jamaica. Fishers and other small craft operators should exercise caution as strong, gusty winds are expected in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms. The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
