SKIN INFECTIONS & YOUNGSTERS : Now a days, lots of young patients visit my clinic with SKIN INFECTIONS LIKE FUNGAL ( RING WORM ), BACTERIAL (BOILS) , VIRAL INFECTIONS (WARTS, MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM , ORO- GENITAL HERPES) &MANY MORE. The most common reason is the lack of hygiene among youngsters especially those living in PGs, hostlers or sharing an apartment. Many a times, younger generation doesnt complete the course of treatment or even if they complete the treatement, poor hygiene habits are the main culprit behind relapse or recurrence of the problem. Poor habits like most of them are too lazy to wash their jeans after one week ; Using damp towel for bathing as they are SUNDRYING their towels after bathing ; Not drying their bodies completely after bathing as they get up from the bed at the last minute before going for classes/ college/ office; not taking bath after playing a game or gymming-- for them sitting in AC FOR AN HOUR COMPENSATES FOR BATH. ALSO POOR DIETARY HABITS lead to lack of immunity and hence more infections. Recently there is a great rise in the incidence of PILONIDAL SINUS among YOUNG MALES DUE TO LACK OF GOOD HYGIENE. ITs high time that younger generation becomes aware of the good hygiene habits & its our duty as parents to inculcate the same in them.
