SLOVAKS, BOHAKS, MORAVIANS, whats up with these...? On the 2nd map, below, you can see the geographic difference between Czech Republic and Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia). Czech Republic is comprised of Bohemia, Moravia, and Czech Silesia. Historically, these were known as CzechLands, and technically meant the territories ruled by The King of Bohemia, in Prague. The Czech Language is the primary one of Bohemia & Moravia, while Czech Silesia (or Moravian Silesia) also has a bit of Polish thrown in. I have no personal knowledge of Slovakian vs Czech languages, but Wiki sez they are mutually intelligible, and Grandma (Babi) Kučaba said she had no trouble speaking with Slovaks (and even understood some Polish). Ive noticed that Bohemia seems to be strongly identified with Beer, while some menus in Czech restaurants list Moravian Riesling on the wine list. Its a leap of logic for *me* to say, but I *think* the terrain may get increasingly hilly as you go east, from Bohemia to Moravia, and turns into the Carpathian Mountains in Slovakia. So, *maybe* the Moravian land is more amenable to growing grapes...??? If anyone has more info on this, or any even remotely related subjects, please either post them, or message them to me. Not to mention, corrections to anything Ive said here. Děkuji (thank you). =g=
