SO here the latest update. Calypso has some cracked ribs. His blood work was surprisingly normal with only slightly elevated liver enzymes due to his trauma. His X-rays showed he has some air in his chest cavity, behind his lungs, which is a problem. That came in from the hole in his side from the coyotes teeth. However, hes been breathing ok for four days. Theyre scratching their heads. They want to put in a tube, they are consulting with the surgical specialist, but I cant possibly afford that. So Im going to bring him home and see how he does. He might need a bit of force feeding or a vet visit or two for IV to keep him strong, but he is definitely improving. Its also possible the vet can keep his lung cavity clear with hypodermic drainage, will discuss with the doctor. If he needs surgery I will probably beg for pay pal donations or do a kickstarter to raise funds. Its not needed yet I dont think, hopefully it wont be. As for me, well, Im not doing so great. Thankfully I have friends providing support emotionally. I dont know why I get so very emotional and feel so very deeply about pets. Calypso is without a doubt special. But theres something about the difference between humans and pets… We know whats going on and that were going to die. The pets, I dont think they … I think their innocence is a thing that makes me feel they are more vulnerable. I wont let Calypso suffer needlessly if the time comes. I am not going to be selfish that way. However, since he somehow fought off or escaped two coyotes, god knows how far they took him, it was way away from my house cause he wasnt found, and he crawled back 40 hours later, and was so very happy to be in the bed again, with his little purrs and mrumphs and prtttts and such, and his tail twitching happily. that I am going to support him as much as possible to recover. Hes not a quitter, he wants to live. And truth be told, hes the reason I still have my house, every time I have thought about giving up, Id look at Calypso, and think, How can I explain losing our home to the cat? And Id find a way.
