SO thankful to have made it safely out of Uyuni but sad at the same time to be gone! The protests were getting violent towards the end of the week and the road blockades prevented us from booking a bus back to La Paz. By the grace of God and with a lot of help from Pastor Rolando, we were able to book private cars to take us South through the desert and East through the Andes to Potosi where we could take an overnight bus to La Paz. 2 Land Cruisers shuttled Team Fearless Chazak through the desert where we had one minor snag. One car got stuck in the sand and again, by the grace of God, there was another large truck there that could lend us a tow cable. About an hour later of pushing the car with numb toes we were out of the sand and on the move again! We are safe, warm (relatively speaking - Im only wearing 2 pairs of pants and a long sleeve w/ a pullover) and well fed (coffee & a salad = heaven!) in La Paz! We have 2 days of rest here and then Monday morning F Squad will be taking off on a 26 hour bus ride to Lima, Peru. After an overnight we will hop back on a bus for a 12 hour ride to Trujillo, Peru where we will all be serving together for the month! I couldnt have asked for a better month of ministry or a better pair of teams to serve with in Uyuni, Bolivia! Be on the lookout for blog updates! It was very difficult to access the internet for the last few weeks in Uyuni. Please pray for Gods Peace for the people we were doing ministry with and the city as a whole, there is a lot of uncertainty and fear rippling throughout Uyuni.
