SOME PEOPLE CAN BE SO IRREDEEMABLY DAFT AND PITIABLY DUMB Because soldiers (army) in lawful performance of their assigned internal duties, arrested 486 northern trading-travellers (as they were baptized by the north) on Igbo soil, to wit Abia State, at the oddest hour of 2am and on a convoy of 33 buses, the tongues of northern leaders, clerics and youths have been wagging. They have been threatening Ndigbo, surprisingly not the Army, with fire and brimstone. Even though one of the trading-travellers has been identified as a Boko Haram kingpin and taken into Army custody, while 85 others are also said (unofficially though) to be members of Boko Haram, some miscreant elements in the north, masquerading as northern leaders and youths, are politicising, trivializing, and have continued to plead the innocence of the moneyless trading-travellers without acceptable articles of trade. But its like I am gradually beginning to come to an understanding of why the arrested northerners were moneyless trading-travellers. They sell insurgency, death, mayhem, misery and pains concomitantly with their religion and law (sharia), and you dont need to be moneyed to engage in such businesses. Maybe I will suggest and appeal that these northern trading-travellers should kindly stay in the north and ply their trades there. The Southerners do not need their items of trade. As a matter of fact, their businesses and items of trade are banned in the South. The northern trading-travellers were, therefore, arrested because, as the Latin people say, Abundans cautela non nocet, meaning, Abundant caution does no harm. The north should, therefore, leave Ndigbo alone. They should know that Ndigbo are, however, not howsoever afraid of them. Its much better that wise counsel prevails.
