SPANA is an animal protection charity started in the 1920s by two Englishwomen visiting Morocco. Its still going strong and runs mobile clinics all over North Africa looking after the welfare of working animals. They are calling for your help. Refuges from the conflict in Mali have settled in Mauritania together with literally hundreds of thousands of animals and SPANA wants to construct six wells, drilling down into the aquifer beneath them.
