SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMEMT 2013 SUMMER SESSION PLAYOFFS Divisions 031 & 041 • Since both Desert Cities 8-Ball Divisions are under the 10-team guideline that permit an automatic qualification for the high point finisher, the respective division championships will be determined through a special playoff format. • Each division will qualify one team for possible advancement to a 2014 LTC event. • Qualified teams must maintain eligibility through the fall 2013 and spring 2014 sessions. • We will use the following structure for the summer session 2013 playoffs: In each division… o Three teams will compete for the division championship o The high point finisher (1st place) will be awarded a BYE in the first round of the playoffs. o The 2nd place team will be awarded an automatic playoff position. o If there is not a tie for 2nd place, a Wild Card team will be selected at random to compete in the playoffs. o In the first playoff round, the 2nd place team will play the Wild Card team. The match will be scheduled for play at the home location of the 1st place team (even though the 1st place team is not participating in the first round) UNLESS the location is also the home site of one of the participating teams. [If the match site is a regular home location to either of the first round playoff teams, the match will be moved to a neutral site] o We have set tentative dates for the first playoff round: Division 031 will be played on Monday, August 26. Division 041 will be played on Tuesday, August 27. o The winners of the first playoff round will meet the 1st place finisher in their division, for the championship. o The championship matches will be played at a neutral site. Time, date and location to be determined.
