SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR: Gatineau Wintery weather on Wednesday. Precipitation will spread into Southern Ontario overnight through Wednesday morning, associated with an approaching weather system. For most areas within Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe, the precipitation will fall primarily as rain through most of the day on Wednesday. It may, however, begin as a patchy freezing rain for a period in the morning, and locally slippery conditions may develop during the morning commute. Further north into Central Ontario, the precipitation may begin as snow for a few hours, becoming mixed or changing to freezing rain in some locales, before changing to rain Wednesday afternoon. 5 to 10 cm of snowfall are possible over northern sections. In Eastern Ontario, snowfall is expected to begin mid to late Wednesday morning, and change to rain in the afternoon or evening. Freezing rain will be a lesser risk. Up to 10 cm of snow are possible, potentially up to 15 cm in the Gatineau area where snow may persist through Wednesday night. Additionally, for areas east of Lake Huron, especially in the Huron-Perth and Grey-Bruce regions, rain will change to snow Wednesday night and brisk northwest winds gusting to 60 km/h could produce local blowing snow with low visibilities. Freezing rain warnings have been issued for regions where the freezing rain is most likely to occur and be prolonged. Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at weatheroffice.gc.ca.
