SPEND $50 and Save $200!!! David Bahr luggage weight problems is a great way to start your vacation out on the wrong foot. First off, visit onebag this is a great way to plan your trip so that you havent tried to stuff all your heels, costumes, headpieces and duct tape to last you into the next millenium. You dont need all that stuff girl. Believe me,, lay out all of your items you intend to pack on the bed, then cut it in half. you arent going to use it all,,, and YOUR FAVORITE COLOR IS BLACK. Dédé T. Taylor can vouch for this. So, how do you spend $50 to save $200? I was in the new University Town Center mall yesterday and I visited the TUMI store. They have a small device that weighs your luggage for you. It has connectors that attach to your suitcase, you then pick it up and it reads the exact weight. It retails for $50. I am sure there are more out there that are less, so look on Amazon to find a few other options. Now, if you are as cheap as my father who wouldnt spend a nickel to see Christ Rise, try packing your suitcase a day or two ahead of time. Take it to one of your local grocery stores that has one of the large curiosity scales displayed when you enter the store. (Drag Queens, you may need to use the nearest freeway truck scale for your baggage.) After you weigh your luggage, step on the scale your self as a before and after measurement. Ok, so those of you that follow my advice are all set, and those of you who dont , this is what will happen: You unload your luggage out of the Lincoln Town car trunk whose muffler has been scraping the roadway since you left your house due to the sheer weight of what is inside. YOu walk up to the ever so pleasant airline employee and lift your luggage onto the scale while bursting a few blood vessels to accomplish this herioc feat. She tilts her head, looks at you and says,,,, you are over weight by 10 lbs. You are confused,,, and while you look down and around your body feeling your waist line thinking you have done so good to look in shape for the cruise, you realize shes talking about your luggage. The employee doesnt care if its a thumbtack or a lead ball that put you over the limit,,, your going to have to either leave behind, or carry with you whatever is pushing it above and beyond the 50 lbs allotted. You then have to open your luggage in front of all the people behind you whom are either rolling their eyes, or paying attention to how you packed and if there are any embarrassing personal items revealed as you open the lid. Oh, and as the thought of you arguing with the employee comes to mind,,, FORGET IT. They wont budge, they wont give,, you are about to get a Talk to the hand answer. Remember, airlines font make money on getting your butt from one place to another,,, they make it on fees, and cargo they ship. Not many people realize this, but many airlines make only $5 to $10 dollars per person on each flight, so they are betting you are going to make mistakes, and arent about to give up their bread and butter for you. Some simple preparation will help to avoid this devastating scenario. 50 lbs is the standard, but airlines can vary from one to the other not only on the checked luggage, but also on the carry ons. Call them to find out! See you all there!!!!
