SPIRITUAL INVESTMENTS Romans 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Apostle Paul draws a clear and sharp line between a carnal and a spiritual mind. A carnal mind leads away from God and ends in spiritual death; a spiritual mind, however, gives peace and leads to life eternal. What is a carnal mind ? We live our life at our own discretion. We are dissatisfied if our life’s circumstances do not develop as we desire ; we follow modern trends without questioning. Having a spiritual mind means that we always orient ourselves towards God’s will. We have trust in God’s guidance, knowing that He will lead us to a better outcome; we are sceptical against the spirits of our time. Where do we invest our strength and our time ? In the flesh, as described above ? Or in the spiritual, that which remains and is lasting forever ? Let us not allow the human spirit to drive our actions and thoughts, but be spiritually minded and invite God’s will and Holy Spirit to inspire us.
