SPIRITUALITY TIME WITH ONI! Was reading a book I got off the Krishnas about Yoga, and something that was mentioned resonated within me - when you are performing Yoga Meditation, it is written that you are supposed to focus ENTIRELY upon Visnu/Krsna and NOTHING ELSE. Your entire mind is supposed to be focused solely upon contemplation of the divine, with no distractions whatsoever. I think, because of this, that is why they have statues of Krishna and other Hindu gods in their temples - because many humans are highly visual-focused, the statues(s) represent the subject(s) they are meditating upon, as an immediate and visual point of reference. They are not literally worshipping an idol, but the spiritual entity that the statue represents; much as how we Catholics are not worshipping the statues of our saints, angels, Blessed Mary, ect....we are using them as visual focal points to put our brains into a heightened state of spiritual awareness, as their presence reminds us of the sanctity and righteousness we are supposed to be aspiring towards. This is, of course, merely my own interpretation and opinion.
