SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! As well as my theories/possibilities! John Hurt playing "The Doctor" in the 50th anny. A forgotten regeneration. In the past during the time war, the time lords said sometimes they force a regeneration creating a child born of war. A soldier to fight for Gallifrey. John Hurt Regened into Eccleston, after McCoy during the Time war. Making him a hybrid of the 2 Doctors. A forced regen that may not count against The Doctor? (possibility) If it does count against him , than Tennant is the 11th and Smith is the 12th meaning if the 12 regeneration rule is still in affect, this next doctor would be the last. NO WAY IN HELL BBC OR THE WORLD WILL LET THE DOCTOR DIE OFF COMPLETELY! So River using her remaining regenerations to save The Doctor possibly giving him extra regenerations, Hurt not counting against The Doctor, in the 50th anny first half episode, when he is being rewritten and being killed in his time line. Those might have reset his regenerations as if they never happened meaning this would be his "first" regeneration or the time lords created the rule of 12, since they are gone and The Doctor is the last time lord in this universe. He may have unlimited regens. I Love where my mind goes when thing about this. All tho in my opinion it would be a bit simple n dissapointing (the unlimited regens cuz of being the last time lord). however at least Doctor Who could continue. Or Moffet will throw a monkey wrench and it be nothing even close to this and way out of left field. We will see.lol.
