Johnson finished the season with 71 receptions for 1,077 yards and eight touchdowns and had been selected to his fifth straight Pro Bowl. The NFL announced yesterday that Johnson will be replaced by New York Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham junior. Safety Glover Quinn and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (en-DOM-uh-kon Soo) will represent Detroit at the Pro Bowl, which will be held in Arizona later this month. Jameis Winston has decided to enter the NFL Draft after two years as Florida States quarterback. Winstons camp had initially indicated that an announcement wouldnt come until after the College Football Playoff national championship game next Monday. However, ESPN on Wednesday morning cited Winstons father as saying his son has decided to enter the NFL Draft and Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher later in the afternoon confirmed it in a statement. After nearly landing a strength and conditioning coach over the weekend, it appears Jim Harbaugh now finally has his man. Kevin Tolbert, an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the San Francisco 49ers who worked under former Michigan strength coach Mike Gittleson from 2001-2007, will be Harbaughs strength and conditioning coordinator, per Fox NFL insider Alex Marvez. The move comes days after Harbaugh nearly landed Stanford strength and conditioning coach Shannon Turley, who ultimately changed his mind and opted to remain with the Cardinal. Michigan has not made any formal announcements relating to Harbaughs coaching staff at this time. Even though winter has an icy grip on Michigan, Tigers Spring Training is just around the corner. Yesterday the team announced pitchers and catchers will have their first workout on February 20th and the full squad will begin drills on February 24th. Detroit opens the spring schedule with its annual exhibition game against Florida Southern College March 2nd and begins Grapefruit League play against the Baltimore Orioles the next day. The Michigan State Spartans are back on the hardwood this evening when they visit the Iowa Hawkeyes in Big Ten Basketball action. Tip-off at Carver-Hawkeye Arena is 7:00 p.m. The Spartans are coming off Mondays 70-to-50 home win over Indiana to improve their record to 10-and-5, 1-and-1 in the league. Iowa is 11-and-4, and unbeaten in the Big Ten at 2-and-0. Sean Sellers sank a 3-pointer in the final seconds of overtime to give Ball State a 60-59 edge over Eastern Michigan in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night. The Cardinals trailed through most the overtime period until Sellers 3-pointer with 15 seconds left gave Ball State the win. Ball State capitalized on cold first-half shooting by the Eagles (11-3, 0-1) to lead 22-20 at the break. Raven Lee led the Eagles with 16 points.
