SPORTS UPDATE WITH EMMAH ATAI: Uganda defeated Guinea 2-0 in an Afcon 2015 qualifier at Namboole Stadium last evening to climb to the top of Group E. The win has now moved Uganda Cranes to the top of Group E with 4 points (same as Ghana) but Uganda has a better goal difference. Guinea now sit third with three points while Togo who lost 3-2 to Ghana in Lome are bottom with no point. Ivory Coast, Egypt and Zambia suffered damaging defeats. The Elephants were upset by Cameroon thanks to two goals each from Clinton Njie and Vincent Aboubakar as the Lions ran out 4-1 victors. Yaye Toure tapped in a consolation goal for the visitors. Ivory Coast are now third in Group D with three points, while Cameroon are top on six points after winning their first two matches. Things are not going much better for seven-time Nations Cup winners,Egypt . The Pharaohs lost 1-0 at home to Tunisia courtesy of Fakhreddine Ben Youssef’s 14th-minute goal. Egypt are bottom of Group G on zero points, while Senegal and Tunisia both have six points after the former beat Botswana 2-0. Zambia went down 2-1 to Cape Verde Islands on their artificial home turf. Jacob Mulenga scored for Chipolopolo but goals from Ze Luis and Heldon ensured Cape Verde now top Group F with six points, while Zambia remain on one point. Eden Hazard believes Chelsea will be less reliant on him for goals this season following the arrivals of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, and hopes to challenge for four trophies. The Telegraph says former Manchester United forward Welbeck will train with his new Arsenal teammates for the first time later today. The £16million man comes in in good form after netting twice in Englands potentially crucial qualifying win over Switzerland on Monday. Wenger has reportedly already spoken to Welbeck at length over the phone and confirmed he will get the chance to prove himself as a central striker inOlivier Girouds continued absence. Everton manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that there is no need for drastic change in his defence, despite the team conceding 10 goals already this season. The Merseyside outfit are yet to keep a clean sheet after three Premier League games, with six goals being conceded in last months defeat to Chelsea at Goodison Park. The Toffees are currently 17th in the league table. Joe Lewis is reportedly looking to sell Tottenham Hotspur after placing a £1bn price-tag on the club. The Spurs owner paid £22m to invest in the club back in 2001, but is now actively looking for buyers after becoming increasingly burdened by the costs of the new stadium plans, which is said to run towards the £400m-mark.
