SPOTTED: #RFSQ personnel training and working hard in the #Gulf to reduce fire risk, ahead of bushfire season. Our staff and volunteers are involved with the Gulf Fire and Weeds project, along with project partners: the Carpentaria Land Council, Northern Land Council, Bio Security Queensland and Southern Gulf Catchments. The project sees #QFES and other agencies conduct early season strip burns around properties and traditional lands in the Gulf, to protect the area from late season bushfires. The project also involves burning breaks around infestations of invasive weeds, to facilitate the safe use of hot fires later on to kill the weeds and protect the natural fauna in the area. Recent training saw new Ranger recruits from #Gregory, #Burketown and the Northern Land Council get involved with ground burns near Hells Gate, as part of hazard mitigation in the Burke Shire. #CoolBurn #GetReadyQld
