SSB ‘fast track’ recruitment: 9 months and counting Aspirants aghast; Fear foul play Jammu, Oct 25: As nine months have passed since the State Service Selection Board (SSB) advertised 2000 posts for ‘fast track’ recruitment in various departments, the delay in declaration of result of screening test has upset the aspirants who fear that further delay may hamper selection due to code of conduct in view of approaching general elections. The recruitment was surrounded with controversies since beginning over hassled procedure for issuance of admit cards, last-minute postponement of the test and now inordinate delay in declaration of result. About three lakh job aspirants who appeared in the screening cum written tests held on September 17 and 21 are alarmed over the delay in completion of the process. They fear that the selection may get stuck half way due to the code of conduct in view of approaching general elections, while many smell foul play in delay in the declaration of result. “We have become impatient after the declaration of the result of Combined Competitive Services preliminary examination-2013 conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) on September 29, around a week later than SSB exams,” said an aspirant adding, “I am afraid for two reasons. First, election may hamper the selection process and, second, delay may be due to political interference in the final selection.” Job aspirants term the claims of ‘fast track’ recruitment of the government as misleading, saying that nine months have already lapsed since the posts were advertised. While questioning the recruitment process, Rohit Sharma, a job aspirant said, “Our pains will increase if result is further delayed.” “Unlike other Boards, the recruitment by SSB from day one became a complex and time-consuming process,” he said. He also alleged that delay in result reflects that some sort of misappropriation in the lists is being done by the authorities to adjust blue-eyed candidates. When contacted, Chairperson SSB, Shagufta Parveen, was not able to give a satisfactory reply. “When the result is declared, everybody will come to know,” she said. When asked how much more time it may take, she said, “It may take more time and I am not in a position to tell you exactly when it will be out.”
