SSGC Veterans Cricket Club reaches in Final SSGC~VCC have reached the Final of Zulfiqar Invitation T-20 Cricket Tournament Beating Ten Eleven (Naurus) Cricket Club by Three Wickets. The match proved to be a nail bitter as the Eighth wicket partnership stand of 67 runs in 6 Overs by SSGC’s Veteran Star All rounder Sohail Mehdi (Central Zone-Billing) 31 of 16 deliveries with the help of 0ne6 and four 4’s and Sadaf Abbas (HR) 35 of 16 containing two 4’s & 3 sixes proved to be the decider in the match. Earlier Naurus XI managed to score only 143 for 8 in 20 Overs due to some immaculate bowling by SSGC bowlers. Sohail Mehdi captured 3 for 30 while Waleed Ahmed (by invitation)son of legendary off spinner Tauseef Ahmed excelled with the figures of 2 for 19 in 4 overs. Asim Zaidi & Nizamuddin (S&M)and Sadaf Abbas bowled some accurate deliveries to restrict the professional opposition to a low score. SSGC Batsmen Asim Saeed (KT) and Danish Javed (CCD) opened the innings with some gutsy stokes which were a treat to watch. Raja Iftikhar (SITE), Imran Farooqui (Finance), Waleed Ahmed & wicket keeper batsman Adeel Zafar (By invitation) all contributed in the chase. Sohail Mehdi was adjudged Man of the Match due to his all-round performance which earned SSGC a well-deserved place in Final. On the road towards the final of the tournament TEAM SSGC~VCC, led by Asif Ansari (HR-E&D), comprehensively beaten PNSC by 7 wickets while stood victorious from Meezan Bank by 55 runs having scored 206. The victory margin of the semi-final with Ten Eleven (Naurus) Cricket Club was Three wickets. The only defeat conceded was against Shanawaz Group of Companies (Sheezan) with a petite margin of Two wickets. The grand Final will be played Between TEAM SSGC~VCC and Shahnawaz Group of Companies (Sheezan Food) on Saturday August 09, 2014 i.e. after Eid-ul-Fitir. Renowned cricketers, sports journalists and celebrities from TV and Media are expected to grace the occasion.
