#SSU #TBT #SPORTSUPDATE Frank Lampard and Edin Dzeko scored twice as holders Manchester City sailed into the English League Cup fourth round with a crushing 7-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and Chelsea beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 on Wednesday. After struggling to break down their Championship (second tier) opponents in the first half, City produced a blistering spell of four goals in 13 minutes immediately after the break. Lampard opened the scoring just three days after netting against his former club Chelsea before Dzeko, Jesus Navas, Yaya Toure, Dzeko, Jose Pozo and Lampard completed the rout. Chelsea, top of the Premier League and unbeaten in all competitions this season, had Kurt Zoumas equaliser cancelled out by Matt Mills before Oscars skidding low shot in the 55th minute secured a victory that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggested. Elsewhere, Ryan Mason, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane scored late goals as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to beat Championship leaders Nottingham Forest 3-1. -------------- There are now fewer black managers in English soccer than there were a year ago and they are finding it harder than ever to get jobs in football, according to former player Jason Roberts. He claims there is open resistance from clubs to appoint black managers or those from ethnic minorities and it is time the government acted to stop the current system. Roberts, who scored more than 150 goals in his 18-year playing career, told BBC Radio 5 Live he agreed with Gordon Taylor, the head of the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), that more must be done to increase the number of black managers. Roberts said he was in favour of the Rooney Rule, which has had a big impact on the recruitment of black coaches in American football. The rule, established in 2003, requires NFL teams to interview at least one black or minority ethnic candidate for the head coachs position or a senior role that becomes available. ------------- Guinea and Sierra Leone will host 2015 Africa Cup of Nations matchday 3 qualifiers in Morocco and Cameroon because of the Ebola epidemic, the organisers said on Wednesday. A Confederation of African Football (CAF) statement said Guinea would play Ghana on October 11 at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca. Guinea defeated Togo at the same venue this month in a previous Group E home match. Sierra Leone will face Group D leaders Cameroon on October 10 at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde, the home ground of their opponents. The Leone Stars suffered a similar disadvantage this month – playing a home game against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Lubumbashi. ------- Barcelona dropped points for the first time under boss Luis Enrique as they were held away to Malaga. The Catalans, who had won their first four games, failed to have a shot on target despite fielding a front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Pedro. They almost conceded their first goal of the season but keeper Claudio Bravo tipped Luis Albertos free-kick onto the post. Barca remain top of the table, on goal difference from Sevilla. Earlier in the day, Luis Suarez scored twice and Thomas Vermaelen also found the net as Barcelona B beat an Indonesia under-19 team 6-0. The former Liverpool striker is suspended from competitive games until their match with rivals Real Madrid on 25 October. ------------- Rory McIlroy says golf is my girlfriend as he ruled out becoming involved in a relationship for the foreseeable future four months after his break-up with Caroline Wozniacki. McIlroy split from the tennis star in May, just days after invites for the couples planned wedding were sent out. Since then, McIlroy, 25, has gone on to land back-to-back major titles. Golf is my girlfriend at the minute and its going to be that way for a while, said McIlroy. Four days after announcing his break-up with the former womens world number one tennis player, McIlroy won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
