ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, JUNE 2, 2014 - GIS: Minister of Youth, Sport and Religious Affairs, the Hon. Emmalin Pierre, has sent her congratulations to Grenadian star athlete, Kirani James, on his victory at the Diamond League, Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, 31st May. Kirani James, who is also a sports Ambassador for Grenada, won over his fierce rival, Lashawn Merritt, of the United States, in a time of 43.97 seconds - the leading time for 2014. James remains the only non American to run times under 44 seconds in the 400 meter event. Minister Pierre stated that as a Sports ambassador James continues to represent his country proudly, while remaining down to earth and focused as a positive example to the youth of Grenada.
