STAFFORD TRAVEL ADVICE: If youre out in Stafford tonight please read this post... Weve been made aware that hackney carriage drivers will be on strike tonight between 3am and 4am and will NOT be accepting any fares. So if you are out tonight (and intend to have a late one!) please make alternative arrangements to get home. There are a number of private taxi companies operating as normal but you must prebook rather than flag these down as theyre only insured for prebooked fares. Please do NOT drink and drive, you face arrest, court & will lose your licence. Instead nominate a desinated driver or arrange for a family member to pick you up. We understand this action is due to an ongoing disagreement between taxi drivers and Stafford Borough Council. Our officers will be on patrol in the town centre as normal to keep you safe and they will be working to ensure that you get home safely after the bars and clubs close for the night. Please plan ahead for your journey home and work with them.
