STATE OF OJUTU BRIDGE Congratulations to our illustrious, industrious and good people of our great town ILOBU ASAKE on the occasion of this year’s ILOBU DAY! Let me start by registering my displeasure with the state of the only bridge (Ojutu Bridge) that links our great town ILOBU with the state capital or (if I may say) with the rest of the world by road. I am aware of the efforts of some of our leaders (both political and traditional) in the past. I want to say big thank you, for your effort! The bottom line is that the bridge has not been reconstructed neither expanded as expected after several decades of agitation by our people. My suggestion: It has been my dream to do something as a valid and productive effort after witnessing in several occasions where people are suffering on this access road (Ilobu – Osogbo Road, Ojutu axis), simply because the width of the bridge is just two narrow to accommodate two vehicles at a time. Oh! My people were really suffered during the last Ileya festival! The solution I am thinking about, if we can collectively buy to it, is for all sons and daughters of Ilobu that loves the town and don’t want people to continue suffering for nothing to contribute minimum of N1,000 each, (maximum can be N1b, depend on individual purse) to be managed by IDU, if we so decided, and see if the money can do another bridge to complement the current one, at least this will alleviate the suffering. The rationale behind my thinking is that we can do this collectively on our own as a community, without much burden on us. Please, comments are welcome on how best we can create account for this, and manage the fund for the development and betterment of the community. Here I rest my case! Thank you.
