STATEMENT ON THE MASS DEFECTIONS OF DISILLUSIONED EFF MEMBERS IN THE NORTH WEST PROVINCE This statement is to acknowledge that we have given up on the fight to correct Economic Freedom Fighters from within. We have exhausted all the internal mechanism available to us to correct some of the political malpractices, political abuse, manipulation of processes, political marginalisation?, the unashamed rigging of list processes and elective processes, the purging of members and so forth that have unfortunately gained the momentum of its own particularly as we approach the peoples assemblies. Most of us are the founder members of this organisation in this province. We have availed all our human capital, financial resources and everything to mobilise the people of the North West province to rally behind the Economic Freedom vision of the EFF. We have done so without any expectation of leadership or financial reward. We did it conscious of the fact our people can no longer endure the laickadisical way at which the ruling party treats the suffering and the economic conditions of our people. We saw EFF as a viable political alternative to realise the aspirations of the downtrodden of our masses, and we ensured that EFF in the North West emerged as the biggest provincial chapter that sustained EFF growth, that threatened the political hegemony of the ruling party in this province. After the elections, we realised that EFF has been hijacked. We were treated like vermin and EFF became the gateway to the economic emancipation of the selected elite few. They did everything in their power to entrench their borowed powers, they threatened suspensions, expelled members, rejected the memebership of some members, rigged branch people assemblies, and used the branch audits to disqualify the branches that did not conform to their leadership perspectives. We consent that this is not the leadership that has the interests of the broader EFF at heart. They are just looking out for econmic opportunities, and they have identified the few that will travel this jouney with them. In the process they have shut out other members from participating progressively in the politics of this beloved movement. Julius Malema has unfortunately failed to unite this province as well, and has shown clear favouritism to protect and sustain the selfsihness of this leadership clique. Our members are not going to tolerate this any longer. Romeo Matjila (former Dr KK Regional Coordinator), the current RCT member, Jerry Mngxitama (brother of Andile and former subregion convenor of Tlokwe), former subregions leadership, and hundreds of ordinary EFF members in the North West province hereby tender our resignations from the EFF. We are no longer members of the EFF. We will call a press conference where members will be there to articulate their reasons and express their disillusionment? at how the EFF in the province was hijacked and misdirected from its mission. We are also in the process of consulting with other fighters from across the country with similar grievances. We are in contact with other forces, including the newly formed New - EFF, MAC (Municipal Action Congress), leftist organisations and other formations and we will be convening a national assembly in December to chart the way foward and explore all the available options to find / form a new political home.
