STATEMENT ON VI PRIMARY ELECTION The Democrats of the Virgin Islands have spoken and I would like to thank the thousands of people that took to the polls in the wind and rain to cast their votes in todays Primary Election. I want to congratulate Attorney Stacey Plaskett on a hard fought campaign and to thank my fellow candidate Emmett Hansen for his participation. I must extend my heartfelt thanks to my campaign volunteers on all three islands who worked tirelessly in this effort. I will never forget your hard work nor the faith you have placed in me. I would like to extend best wishes and congratulations to Delegate Donna Christensen and Basil Ottley, Jr. for securing our partys gubernatorial nomination. I commend the five other gubernatorial teams for their efforts to lead this territory during these very challenging times. I also congratulate all those Democrats nominated for seats in the Legislature and wish each of them success in the General Election. Congratulations and recognition are due to those who were unsuccessful in this Primary. We are a better and stronger party, with a clearer vision of the possibilities for the future, because of your voices and views. With Delegate Donna Christensen selected as the new titular head of the Democratic Party, I look forward to the party uniting behind the Democratic ticket in November.
