STAY HUMBLE – Nicodemus who was a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews and a conservative of Israel had a heart to heart conversation with Jesus. The Pharisee’s thought that when Jesus came, they would be elevated and honored so to speak. Jesus showed no favoritism; they were called to repentance just like everyone else. Jesus even pointed out that the Pharisee’s devotion to Scripture was often applied wrongly and their practices exalted themselves above others – John 3. Even though they studied the Scriptures, they had not learned the central truths. What they did learn was, they were on the same level as everybody else. “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you” – Romans 12:3 Nicodemus was humbled and allowed Jesus to challenge his understanding and listened to him even though he was a teacher also. Nicodemus changed his character. Keep it humble. There is always more to learn; nobody knows everything!
