STORY OF QUEEN OF SHEBA adapted from targum sheni - megilas esther King Solomon knew the languages of all the animals and ruled over them. He sent birds to scout the world and tell him of what they saw. One day a bird came and told him of a wonderous sight, a great city far far away ruled by a woman. This woman would climb a great pyramid daily to a room on top and greet the rising sun. The people were rich and had much gold. King Solomon wrote a note to this Queen and tied it to the leg of the bird and sent it back. One morning, the Queen and High priestess of Sheba climbed up the stairs of the great pyramid to the room on top to engage in her morning service of the sun-god. Suddenly a bird flew in. She saw a scroll tied to its foot. Amazed she opened it and read about a great and wise king. She said to herself, "I must go and see this great king. It took her seven years to get there but when she finally met King Solomon, he was far greater than her expectations. She married him and then returned to her people.
