SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO OR AUDIO HOME RUN CALL AND BE ENTERED TO COMPETE IN A HOME RUN DERBY WITH THE PLAYERS THIS SATURDAY! We are hosting a Salute to the Long Ball in conjunction with Men’s Health Awareness Night this Saturday, June 7th. The Salute to the Long Ball will pay tribute to the 2014 Pelicans offense which currently leads the Carolina League in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage and batting average. Game time is 7:05 PM. Gates will open at 3:30 PM allowing fans with a ticket to Saturday’s game to watch batting practice. In addition to opening gates early for BP, the Pelicans are holding a social media contest where fans can submit their very own home run call. The top submissions will be played on Saturday prior to the game as well as during the game if the Pelicans hit a home run. All submissions can be posted to the team’s Facebook or Twitter accounts using #MBPlongball. Additionally, everyone who submits a call will be entered into a drawing to compete in a whiffle ball home run derby with Pelicans players including the current Minor League Baseball home run leader, Joey Gallo. The derby will take place on Saturday after BP. The submission deadline is Friday at noon. The winner will be announced via social media at 2:00 PM on Friday.
