SWAPO has officially declared its vice president, Hage Geingob, the party’s sole presidential candidate. President Hifikepunye Pohamba announced this on Saturday at a rally in Katutura. The party also launched its 2014 Election Manifesto, and started its campaign for the 2014 Presidential and National Assembly elections. Pohamba said Geingob is a tested leader, having been part of the party’s Central Committee (CC) since 1970, and thereafter becoming a member of the Politburo in 1980. “For 20 years before our independence, Swapo prepared him for leadership.
