NO 01/09/2014 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: Rocky is very much liked by staff and volunteers at the care center. He is young and absolutely gorgeous with his almost puppyish face. He was quite upset upon arrival and rather barky in his kennel but being a smart boy, he quickly understood that we were his friends. He shows a rather shy personality, responds to commands, hesitates to take treats but seems to like caresses after he feels comfortable with his caretaker. He sits on command and does not mind his photo to be taken. Rocky was relinquished into our care as his very short time owner was moving. He was kept as a guard dog inside a business. He is said to not like his peers, strangers or children, a side he has not shown at all on the care centers premises. Rocky is healthy looking and the perfect weight. His markings are beautiful. He is a magnificent representative of the breed. I have the feeling that Rockys owner might not have known him well. Rocky deserves better if there is a chance for him to prove his good ness. Will you be the one opening your home and your heart to Rocky. He looks like a mighty great dog. Rocky is at the Manhattan Care Center. 01/07/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPNOCHILD Exam Type BEHAVIOR Recheck for resources done on 1/9/14. No iterest in any of the items or food. Helper988086 Rocky was surrendered by his owner of less than six months. His owner tells us that Rocky does not get along with strangers, children and other animals. Rocky was a bit nervous during the early portion of his assessment, but did become soft as the assessment progressed. He became tolerant of the assessors touch while keeping a soft body. Rocky was distracted during the tag test, but did approach the assessor calmly when coaxed after play. He showed no interest in the food toys or rawhide. Rocky approached the helper dog calmly while displaying soft body language during the dog to dog item. Look: 2. Dogs eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessors cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dogs mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2.
