#SWOD #plateweight PVC Balance Pipe Work: Dynamic Applications, w/ Cody Burkhart In the previous videos of this series we applied the PVC Balance Pipe to controlling stability of motions both in and out of plane. We applied this, also, to progression work with base lifts like pressing and squatting; while still a dynamic application by definition, these movements are not typically as fast of motions as more complex lifts. This means that there is not a lot of load transmitted across the plate by external applications like heavy torque of things like a snatch. However, the balance pipe is applicable in these scenarios as well, requiring an increased perfection of bar movement qualities. By paying close attention to the position of the weight at the beginning v. the end of lifts like the snatch and clean (a mark on the bar with a marker to show center is an easy visual tool), we are able to see rotations, imbalances of pull mechanisms, imbalance of receiving positions, etc. This not only allows the balance pipe to crossover into the step progression of new athletes from the PVC load up until they can handle a bar weight for Oly lifts, but it gives every level of athlete the ability to get deep practice work done on bar path movements of complex lifts. Hopefully this series has demonstrated how a training facility is layered with tons of alternative applications to the current uses you have for equipment.
