SYNOPSIS: Happy Monday! Heres a look at the weather synopsis... ASIA: While high pressure is departing from northern Japan, a low pressure system over eastern China (around Shanghai) is moving eastward. In the process, it is spreading rain and clouds into South Korea and western Japan. The interaction is also providing enough instability for cloud cover in central Japan. Rain chances along with clouds are expected for these areas going into Tuesday. The rainy season continues in the Philippines and into the Indochina and Malay Peninsulas. OCEANIA: A cold front is crossing through Australia, and some strong storms are blowing up in the northern portions of Northern Territory. Some storms are also firing up in the southeastern corner of Australia around New South Wales and Victoria. These storms will continue to push eastward, eventually affecting portions of Queensland for Tuesday. New Zealand will also see some rain and showers as a system passes overhead. EUROPE: A low pressure system has come on-shore near the Iberian Peninsula, and there is a complex of fronts associated with the system. Colder air is pushing in from the north, while warm air is coming from the southeast near the Mediterranean. Expect the rain to be around for Monday. No severe weather is expected. Central Europe will mainly remain dry. Eastern Europe may see some clouds and a few showers as an occluded front lingers from a previous low pressure system north of the Balkans. NORTH AMERICA: A low pressure system over the Great Lakes is providing energy to a cold front that is passing through the eastern side of the United States. A chance for severe weather exists for central and coastal Carolinas into southeastern Georgia. Rain and snow will mix in for snow-laden Buffalo and Upstate New York. Meanwhile, the colder side of the low into Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ontario will see some snow. High pressure controls the central and southwestern portions of the United States, but the northern Rockies may see some snow in the higher elevations as there will be enough moisture to support precipitation.
