SYNOPSIS: Happy Thursday! Heres a look at the weather synopsis... ASIA: A low pressure system is bringing windy and rainy conditions into parts of northern Japan. A high pressure system over northern China is close enough to enhance the winds along with lots of cold air to convert the rain to snow in parts of Hokkaido. Expect wind gusts up to 126 kilometers per hour going into Friday. The same high pressure that is enhancing the winds are also bringing calmer weather for China and the Korean Peninsula. Further south, a system near the Philippines will enhance the rainy season and bring some heavy precipitation as we go through the next couple of days. OCEANIA: A high pressure system off the east coast of Australia continues to pump in very warm air, resulting in highs in the mid-40s (C). These are dangerously hot conditions, so please take the precautions needed to be safe in this weather. The heat extends as far south as Sydney. Meanwhile, scattered showers and storms are expected to continue for New Zealand as we head into Friday. EUROPE: A low pressure system over Italy continues to cause serious flooding problems for the continent. As it moves slowly northward, it is starting to affect the weather even in those areas. Expect the wet weather to lead to heavy downpours during the next few days. Meanwhile, a cold front from a low pressure system over western Japan will lead to windy conditions in the British Isles and plenty of rainfall. NORTH AMERICA: Cold air continues to keep its grip over the continent. Areas as far south as Louisiana and Alabama are seeing very cold temperatures, and it will to continue expanding eastward Thursday. The snowy conditions will remain toward the New England and southeastern Canada and produce plenty of problems in the process with the concern for a hard freeze due to the plummeting temperatures.
