SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Job Responsibilities: • Must be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, engineering operations, support and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure of the company adding organizational values. • Must contribute effectively in continuous innovation within the infrastructure by involving and participating in technical research and development activities. • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Must suggest appropriate SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs. • Functions as a lead worker doing the work similar to those in the work unit; responsibility for training, instruction, setting the work pace, and possibly evaluating performance. • Must Participate effectively in initiating and planning phase of the projects and execute and lead until completion. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. • Must be capable of evolving new procedures that helps to maintain the IT security and practises in place. SA Engineering and Provisioning: • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements • Quickly arrange repair for hardware in occasion of hardware failure. • Does a work planning and manages the team for a quicker response. • Responsible for planning and responding to service outages. • Must have good experience Database management in SQL and or Oracle. • Must assist Project Teams and help IT team with technical issues. • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Follow up until completion and monitor the follow up actions and analyse the corrective actions provided for solution standardisation. Create and document corrective and preventive measures taken to close case. • Maintain proper documentation standards and drive the team by monitoring all the documentation are in place for the IT Systems. • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Maintenance: • Monitor system performance • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. • Create a backup and recovery policy. • Must strictly adhere and ensure the procedures are strictly in place and adhered by IT Team and company staff. • Maintain and manage IT Asset and Service Request Management applications. • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.. • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. • Upgrade and configure system software that supports company applications such as ERP, Asset Management, and HR Systems etc. per project or operational needs. • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. • Maintain data centre environmental and monitoring equipment. Requirements: • Four to six year’s system administration experience. • Masters / Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science. • Systems Administration certification MCSA in Microsoft. • Must be a strong team player who is able to influence and drive team. Candidate should have good leadership quality and experience in leading a team. • Must be strong, dynamic and focused by nature. • Expected to be a fast learner. • Require to be judgemental. • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends.
