Sad day in Ottawa today where the heart of our democratic institutions, the Canadian Parliament was under terrorist attacks. This is the place where people go for a walk, they protest the government, some go for yoga, or visit it as a tourist landmark. It resembles the Freedom we treasure as Canadians! Our place of work, the University of Ottawa, was under lockdown all day, and so were many other government buildings. We need to stand strong, work together regardless of political stripes and defend our institutions and safe neighbourhoods against those heinous acts of violence which are simply un-Canadian. We will remain the country of peace and that champions peace efforts around the world. We will remain the compassionate country, regardless of these odd incidents. Long live Canada! Vive le Canada!
