Saddened to hear of the passing of Sin Chan Chaya, son of Cambodias greatest singer/producer/songwriter/performer Sinn Sisamouth. The legacy of Sin Sisamuth inspired one of CSPs first releases - a cover of Sisamouths haunting version of the song made famous The Animals. In actual fact House of The Rising Sun has its origins as a 16th century English drinking song. The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence Tom Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded it for Vocalion Records in 1934. Ashley said he had learned it from his grandfather, Enoch Ashley. In House of The Rising Suns long history of cover versions, Sin Sisamouths is one of the most extraordinary. CSPs cover is in tribute to this version - later this year the band will play a benefit concert for Sisamouths family. youtu.be/STrU2WcbZaY
