Safer Roads Partnership Communications Officer SCP 27-32 £22,958 - £27,052 Hours: 37 per week We are looking for a highly organised and self motivated person to support communication and media activity for the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, generating positive public and media coverage for the Partnership to raise the profile of our programmes and campaigns with a variety of audiences. The post is funded from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and is offered on a full time, secondment basis until 31 March 2015. The role will be based within the Safer Roads Partnership (SRP), which is a multi agency group involving the South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, local authorities, public health bodies and others. The aim of the partnership is to reduce the number of people killed and injured on all roads in South Yorkshire and help to make our roads and communities safer. You will be responsible for delivering an effective and value for money communications service for the Safer Roads Partnership, developing and preparing media releases, features, media briefs and handling reactive media enquiries. You will be involved in the design, development and delivery of key road safety campaigns which are planned throughout the year to target different road users and age groups. You will also assist in delivering internal communications projects to ensure that all agencies within the Safer Roads Partnership can share best practice and co-ordinate and standardise activity where appropriate. We are looking for someone with eexcellent written and verbal communications skills, who is a good team player and has experience of partnership working. Knowledge of how to maximise public relations, including media relations and arranging events and campaigns, is required. Knowledge of how to use social media to convey key road safety messages would be an advantage. The post will be based with the Safer Roads Partnership team based at the Lifewise Centre but with a requirement to travel throughout South Yorkshire to meet the needs of the post.
