** Safety Tip ** There are reports from time to time, about someone who has attempted to impersonate a police officer and asked a driver to pull over to the curb. It is important to know that the overwhelming number of law enforcement vehicles are marked with graphics, and emergency lights that are traditionally red and blue. Unmarked police vehicles are usually equipped with red-and-blue grille lights and the officer is required to wear and produce identification, especially if they are in plain clothes. If this happens to you and you are feeling that this may not be an actual member of law enforcement, proceed to a location that is very visible, with many people around. If you are close to a police station, drive there. If when stopped, the person approaches your vehicle, only partially open the window. Ask to see further identification. While driving to a populated location and able to, call 911 on your cell phone and explain what is happening.
