Salaam Muslims Shia and Sunni. Many may not get the opportunity so since it is Muharram I wanted to share a story inshaAllah from Karbala. There are many. Imam Hussain was slaughtered by Shimr. Shimr turned the blunt side of his knife so Imam Hussain can have the most pain. Before that they killed his 6th month old baby Ali Asghar. From reports perhaps 92 infants were killed from thirst and beatings. They decapitated the head of Ali Asghar and put it on a spear. His mother Layla the wife of Imam Hussain would run in the desert at night screaming that her baby needs milk and where is he although they kept all the heads including that of Imam Hussain in front of their families on spears. Among his other children who were slaughtered in Karbala was a 3 year old daughter named Ruqayya. She survived the original onslaught however they knew she was the daughter of Imam Hussain so they would beat her as much as possible while they paraded them through the cities and markets. They even poured boiling water on top of the son of Imam Hussain Imam Zainal Abedeen. When they reached Sham in Syria they placed them in an open roof prison so these women children and sick would experience the most pain from the burning heat of the sun plus the freezing of the night. Ruqayya was crying for her father Imam Hussain and that she wants to see him. Yazid (la) got tired of the crying and told his guards to give her her father back. They took a silver bowl in front of Ruqayya in prison then took out the head of Imam Hussain and threw it in her 3 year old lap. She died right there from the extreme shock. Some women came from outside and wanted to do the funeral washing of the body of little Ruqayya however they refused. They came back to the prison and spoke to the sister of Imam Hussain Zaynab. They said they cannot wash the body of little Ruqayya for burial because her body is diseased and they do not want to get sick. Zaynab said little Ruqayya is not diseased. They said she is because her body is full of blue marks. Zaynab said those are the bruises from the continuous beatings as they were chained up. Innalillah wa innaillaye rajihoon From Allah we came and to him we shall all be returned. You have been told your entire lives that your leaders were good even from hadith they themselves wrote however that is fine. Believe what you will however I have a suggestion. Stay Sunni if you wish however in Muharram find a Shia mosque and go cry for Imam Hussain and his family. Wallah you will not lose any worldly or heavenly blessings. The blood of the Prophet was in their veins and the Prophet loved them dearly. With peace.
