Salaammalaykoem. I am very disturbed this morning. When I started - TopicsExpress

Salaammalaykoem. I am very disturbed this morning. When I started this page after seeing the excellent example of Sister Fatima Ebrahim in helping people, I thought the halaal area in SA was one that needed some focussed attention: celebrating Muslim-founded-owned-operated businesses (halaal of course!). 12 months down the line I know even less than when I started. These months have been a learning curve even at my advanced age. There are people selflessly doing excellent work with little or no assistance from institutions, organisations, government agencies, pillars of society or captains of industry. Ordinary Joe Soaps. Algamduliellaa for them. Allah is merciful. My disturbances comes from now at last firsthand experiencing for my very own self the challenges they face, have faced, on their own for so many years - boetamaaf, but pissing in the wind, as one of them put it. The halaal industry in South Africa is more alarming than we know. In spite of the many projects, expos, export opportunities, sales opportunities, so many many products excellent products are produced by people whose business is just not kosher. Meaning that their business is not a registered business, products are not halaal certified (which is a minimum requirement, others being HAACP, Organic, Vegetarian, Vegan, Kosher, etc), they do not pay tax, do not meet requirements for export and therefore are unable to take advantage of the opportunities to access funding to grow their business. Catch 22 situation. Or they do not want to grow their business, content from making and selling from home or the pavement or whatever. Or they want to but do not know how. This last we can work with. I have spoken to many many many people over the past few months and inshallah watch this space because there will be assistance for those who want to set matters right and set a goal and work towards it. In the meanwhile I am sharing with you a post from a company I find inspiring in their efforts in the path of halaal and service to the Ummah of Rasooloellaa SAW. If your company is a cipro registered business and you have a halaal certificate for your products then speak to this lady as she is taking companies and their products to Malaysia in April and in May bringing companies/products to Cape Town and buyers: Nazreen Salie at Cape Malay Consultants on telephone (+27) 0764543486 or email her on capemalay@hotmail It is not too late yet for Malaysia as she is working with me to help make it affordable for you to join to Malaysia for your business.
