Salt “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:6 In today’s harsh society when so many are very coarse in the way they speak to one another it’s important as a true Christian to be ready with a kind and encouraging word. Isaiah penned this; “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4 Dear friend what if we were to seek the Lord before we speak? We, I believe, would put to death many heartaches, arguments and a number of other problems. Do you wonder how we have even arrived at this place in the first place? I firmly believe that our media that is TV, Movie and Radio has contributed much of it. That is that tough guy or gal attitude. It’s not just a worldly thing it’s found in the Church. When is the last time you bought a gospel music CD? Find the cover and look at the faces of the artist, especially if it is of the younger generation but it’s not just the younger you see and hear it from the old too. If we are to be affective in reaching the lost, encouraging the down trodden and have the ability to reach any of them we must have a deeper spiritual walk with the Lord in control. What if we were all like salt? Salt has three powerful properties, it stings, heals and preserves. When we are used of the Spirit of God the words we speak will be filled with grace, yet it will cut to the heart, and then bring preservation. Today, try to let the Lord use you. Allow the Spirit of God to speak to you of what to say to others before we open our mouths. “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 Pastor Tim
