Same Award Ceremony for HERMES PAN. In the first photo, Im with JULIET PROWSE. JULIET and I were both, discovered by HERMES. She and I also used to attend the Roland DuPree Dance Classes on La Cienega Blvd. together. We were both very serious; but we sure had a lot of laughs together. I miss her bawdy sense of humour, her teasing me about my high kicks (we matched every single night, and she loved it.) I miss gossiping with her; and never knowing WHAT she was going to say when asked a question. In the second photo, HERMES is enjoying his moment to the hilt. Im standing there in the background, taking it all in; and knowing Ill have to give a play by play description of everything and everybody.......sometime later. In all the years I knew PAN, I can only think of one time when we werent enjoying every moment. He wanted me to dance in Finians Rainbow, and I didnt think the job was good for my career. I always loved working with HERMES, and Id never done a picture, or even a TV show with FRED ASTAIRE; even though, after seeing me warm-up in a dance studio, it was FRED who gave the final OK, and hired me to partner BARRIE CHASE in her Vegas Nightclub act. By the time Finians was prepping, I was getting acting roles. Therefore, I didnt think doing a dancing job was the smart thing to do. PAN knew I was right, but I think it hurt him that I said, no. Even more so when, as it turned out, nothing much about the job was nearly as pleasant as all the other assignments had been in the past. Our little upset didnt last too long. Some of our friends appeared to be more concerned than we were; and after a pasta dinner, and a little red wine.......all was well with the World. But I look at these pictures, and really, all I can think about is the wonderful happiness and excitement that PAN brought into my life. Great jobs, great friendship, great encounters...........great memories.
