Sandi Burnett Ouch!!! August 15 at 9:16am · Unlike · 1 Dean Lamanna This sounds horrible. Why is a development like this even needed in the High Desert? People move there for the open space, not for dense-packed living. The proponents are scummy homeowner association lawyers who make their money GRABBING peoples homes when they dont pay their homeowner association dues (three - six months behind and the homes are repossessed). In fact, the original investors SUED each other and I think only one or two are the original investor group. August 15 at 11:04am · Like Mark Junge This is definitely not needed, but the developers dont care. Its all about building their personal empires and, more significantly, lining their pockets. Nothing else matters to them. August 15 at 11:23am · Like David Fick We chased down the history of the scummy developers about a year ago and well have to retrieve that information. This project has been almost releasing the Initial Study for the last four years. This is a youtube video of the Alta Mira Gated Community Housing projects JT MAC presentation. The Alta Mira presentation starts after fifteen minutes. This was over five years ago-but its the same project (theres a change in scummy investors). https://youtube/watch?v=cX2h4GhEbGA August 15 at 11:25am · Like Chekoya Dreamhawk This would be terrible. Hope it never materializes and the planners in SB realize that this is not the direction for Joshua Tree. August 15 at 12:07pm · Like Stephen Salkin By not organizing youre going to let them destroy the entire desert. Water alone for 248 unit development is going to be a major issue in a place that historically has no water. August 15 at 12:27pm · Like · 3 David Fick What do you mean By not organizing....??? You dont know Joshua Tree. August 15 at 12:56pm · Unlike · 8 David Fick Stephen Salkin- I highly recommend you view the JT MAC Feb. 19th, 2009 youtube video. In that video I correct Mr. Christe of Terra Nova about the Alta Miras projected water use of about 52 acre feet per year to the more realistic approximately 80 acre feet per year. Still 80 acre feet per year would be about 5% of the water used in one hundred square miles of Joshua Tree. If your facebook info is correct-youre in Palm Springs. ...youre going to let them destroy the entire desert. ??? Is there any desert left in Palm Springs? A comment from a county employee about JT said and I roughly quote: if the population of Los Angeles turned out in the same percentages as they do in Joshua Tree, youd need to rent the Rose Bowl to hold the meetings! JT will never lay back and let the desert die without a fight! August 15 at 3:32pm · Like · 10 Dan ODowd Make no mistake about that. August 15 at 3:33pm · Like · 4 Stephen Salkin Davis Fick I lived in Joshua Tree for years. I moved out because California has gone nuts and made it impossible to run a business. Yesterday at 7:26am · Like David Fick Stephan Salkin-Ive lived in Joshua Tree for decades and I stayed. In the last ten years Joshua Tree has been tested greatly in inappropriate projects of scale. There was the Section 33-Steven Katz Joshua Tree Villas (2006-2012) -defeated and made into a community park (much thanks to MDLT). There was the Joshua Tree Casino threat (2010-2012) that included the strong possibility of a water bottling plant-defeated. There is the Cadiz water theft project and Joshua Tree was the lead community against that ongoing legal fight. There was the CA State law pertaining Bobcat trapping advanced and passed through the organization of Joshua Tree. Theres the ongoing Dollar General fight where the County (and the proponent) are stymied as to whether to go forward with an EIR for a convenience store required (Thats some amazing organization). I dont know which years you spent in Joshua Tree, but that was a provocative statement to a community that has organized and also a community that knows a lot about water. 23 hrs · Edited · Like · 2 David Fick Also, if by organization you mean incorporate, thats been studied and we need a population three to five times as large and a LOT of the usual mundane businesses (used car lots, Big Box stores, Dollar Generals, etc.) to host the overhead of the One-Size-Fits-All city government (look at Yucca Valley-they took that direction-NO THANKS). We are looking at the best bet for Joshua Tree and thats the National Conservation & Historical Reserve.
