Sandras case is not the first in which habeas corpus was invoked to secure the release of wild animals in human captivity. However, in the US the two recent cases failed. A New York court, earlier this month has ruled that Tommy chimpanzee was not legally a person and is therefore not entitled to human rights. And in 2011, a lawsuit against SeaWorld to free five wild-captured orca whales was dismissed by the San Diego court. ....... Who gave MAN the authority to dictate the qualifying standards of sentient beings? Can man see in the dark without assistance? Can man fly through the heavens without assistance? Can man stay under the sea for long periods without assistance? Can man feel the changing of the weather and danger before they appear? Is man born knowing his survival skills at birth? No. It takes man two decades or more to learn enough to survive in the world he created. Man is the number one cause of death among man. The earth is polluted and destroyed by man.
