Sanitising Dilemmas!!! : I walk into a supermarket with my daughter when she points out to a jar of Purell sanitisers and yells MoM look your favourite, we can get them at Lagos now. There was a time when mommy liked shoessss. !! .....Well jokes aside. I know all of us have been doing our bit to sanitise while keeping our sanity intact. I am a bit of a germophobe myself, although my husband will assure you that I am BAT shit crazy ( see what I did there ). Here are a few tips. If anyone has anything to say or tips to share pls do so! . I have kept a sanitiser bottle and a box of tissues next to my main door, and instructed everyone to clean the handle when they coming in or going out. I have also invested in a non touch thermometer to monitor temperature of day to day staff coming into my house. Needless to say I am monitoring the handwashing of my home staff with borderline annoyance. I also do call and spread awareness amongst my gate security and the building maintainence staff, along with the door to door vendor woman who gets coriander leaves to our house since ages and quiz them if they are aware of ebola. I inquire if they are eating bush meat? . I m impressed that Most of them are aware and are cautious and almost 90 percent of them are counting on Jesus! Jesus we hope u are listening! Faith is very important. I cant go without mentioning that one of my drivers when he came to work ( after calling sick for a couple of days, but which has been part of our ongoing relationship from day one( lol) my lagos buddies will understand, i didnt take it seriously) . Anyway after his body temp was ok ( which i presumed will be ) upon me asking if he has been eating bush meat. He gave me a coy smile and say yes madam, that thing is not in lagos. And gave me the laugh like I am a lost soul from another planet. Needless to say I had to let him go. I cant have someone who doesnt respect their own health and their kids to be careful about my family. Since then I have been driving around myself. The roads have been shockingly free and my ride is not too bad thanks to my dear husband. Apart from the joy of the newly found independence , the sanitising and the little things to monitor are a bit much! Stay safe and share any tips you may have.. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO EDUCATE EVERYONE WE ASSOCIATE EVERYDAY!! yes we know about ASL now and thats great !! Now its our turn to spread the Ebola awareness to our lesser fortunate friends who dont have access to internet etc. they have been with us for ages and some of them for generations! Tc all and stay sanitised!! :)
