Santiago de Compostela part 2. Yesterday was Cathedral day - we did the lot - a tour of the roof, a tour of the cathedral, a tour of the museum and attended a Pilgrims Mass where we experienced the botafumeiro in full flight. For those of you who dont know the botafumeiro is a huge censer, the largest in the world which is suspended from the roof of the cathedral. It weighs 100kg when filled with coal and incense and is swung by 5 men. Apparently it reaches a speed of 68km/hr and it goes right up to the roof. We were asked not to take photos or videos during the service but this was totally ignored by the huge congregation. It was all pretty spectacular. Confession is available in multiple languages and the faithful line up to embrace the 13th century statue of St James and trek down to see his tomb. The museum was full of priceless treasures - none of which we were allowed to photograph. The day was capped by a spectacular sunset and some busy action in the local tapas bar.
